Funky. Latin. Soul. This 11-piece band is a bi-lingual and multi-cultural collaboration led by the sensational Erica Ramos – their sound owes much to the classic 60’s and 70’s Boogaloo and Latin Soul of NY’s Barrio, with added original compositions and millennial funk.
Erica Ramos – La Patrona
Born in the dawn of the age of Aquarius, Erica Ramos is a native of Los Angeles, California, holding a Bachelor’s Degree in Theatre Arts from California State University at Long Beach. She relocated to New York in 2004 to pursue a career directing Theater. She has since directed numerous plays and worked for companies like LAByrinth Theatre Company, TADA! Children’s Theatre Company and Shalimar Productions at The Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland. Her music career began unexpectedly in 2008 when she was employed as a vocalist for David Fletcher and New York’s Best Musicians. Previously the vocalist for Spanglish Fly, who just released a full length album featuring her vocals, she feels incredibly fortunate to pioneer the resurgance of Latin Soul and Boogaloo with FuLaSo. Currently studying voice with Constantinos Yiannoudes, Erica is also the lead vocalist for alternative soul group, Sinner Man (www.sinner-man.com), who plans to release their second full-length album winter of 2015. Personally, Erica is a devoted wife and proud mother of a one year old daughter. Her favorite color is green and she much prefers eating with her hands over using silverware. Even steak.

David Frankel – Musical Director – Vocalist
grew up in the Lower East Side of Manhattan, New York in a home resonating with Latin music.

His late father Daniel “El Mago” Franklin, a pianist, singer, arranger and composer in the Latin scene from the 1960’s into 2000, hired young David as a low-cost band boy, clave player, backup vocalist, and chart-fetcher at the tender year of 8 years old, giving David very early insight into Latin music.

David began to earnestly pursue music in 2009 at The Harbor Conservatory for the Performing Arts, studying primarily with Louis Bauzo and Ramon Rodriguez, with a focus on performance, voice, piano, percussion and arranging. David continues his study there and has had the honor to work with teachers such as Gorge Delgado, Greg Askew, Shadia Almasri, Pablo Mayor, Sonny Bravo, Roberto Perez, Francis Rodriguez, and Johnny Almendra.  David also works frequently with his dear friends and mentors Ray Santiago and Henry Fiol.

A side man in many projects, David launched his first project Avenida B in 2011, a classic salsa dura band, and eagerly joined forces in 2014 to form Fulaso, where boogaloo and salsa meet funky Latin soul. David is a Pisces.
